BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER - DEMON WEED

PART 7 - RECRUITING THE SLAYER

Buffy continued to run relentlessly away from her home, now taken over by
this secret enemy. She realised it had changed the town's attitudes
completely and that women were acting in aggressive manner. 

Eventually, the Slayer reached the home of Willow. Buffy thought, puffing and
panting from her sprint, that Willow might be able to help her find a
solution to the recent changes...

"Giles!" called Mrs Peebles.

Giles turned immediately to notice Andrea leaning against the library wall,
smiling in his direction. He tread carefully towards her, knowing she was now
somehow different. The smell of tobacco oozed from the P.E teacher.

"Just to say that there is a meeting right now in the conference room which
requires your presence."

"OK, Mrs Peebles - I will be there in a moment."

Giles placed his jacket over the demon reference books dominating the library
table and followed Andrea out of the library...

"Oh, hi Buffy!" Willow stated

"Can I come in, Willow - We need to talk." Buffy replied urgently

"Sure, whats up?" Willow questioned as Buffy hurriedly entered the house.

The two girls made their way to Willows bedroom and Buffy sat down
interrigating her friend over the absence. After Willow explained that she
was not feeling well, Buffy turned her attention to other matters.

"I may have a headache, but I know you didn't just come over to see how I
am." Willow sniffed

"You're right, Willow - do you remember last night when I spotted the demon
fighting the vampire?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I heard it speak about 'domination' and 'making way for invasion'.
Since last night, I have noticed a lot of changes around Sunnydale recently.
The most obvious was tonight when I caught Mom smoking."

"What!?" Willow questioned in shock.

"I know, Mom hasn't smoked since she was a teengager. Her smoking now is not
right at all. There has also been a strong tobacco scent around the high
school recently. I've also rarely spotted any male students either -
Something is going on."

"What can I do to help, Buffy" Willow asked 

"We could use the Internet to find out any information on a 'Caos' - I have
noticed that name being graffited in areas of the school recently. Maybe this
'Caos' has something to do with what is happening."

"OK, Buffy!" Willow replied, charging up the Personal Computer into life and
geting online.

Buffy sat nervously at the computer, as her time fighting evil limited her
experience on these. She began to type on the keyboard and browse through
articles relating to Caos. An article was then brought up explaining the myth
of Caos.

"According to this article, Willow, Caos was a demonic spirit who existed to
create war and conflict amongst many..." Buffy stated, amazed by the findings
on screen "...it is believed Caos affected all the wars in history - right
back to the age of dawn!"

Buffy continued in her state of entrancement "I will have to contact Giles
and let him know this. How do you email, Willow?"

Suddenly, Buffy smelt fresh tobacco fragrance fill the bedroom.  "Will..."
Buffy asked in disgust of the smell as she felt a sharp blow to the back of
her head. The Slayer fell to the floor in agony and slipped into
unconsciousness. 

Willow, with a lit cigarette dangling from her lips, knelt down beside Buffy
and whispered in her ear.

"That's it Buffy - Sleep for now. When I am finished the hypnosis, you will
take a puff and join us."


Giles sat in the chair, trying to remain awake as Andrea spoke out to the
male teachers. 

"I would like to announce that Principal Snyder's condition is decreasing and
it now looks likely that I will take over completely very soon. Anyway, I
propose big changes to advance in the future and improve the high school..."
Andrea spoke, noticing that the majority of the male teachers in the room
were yawning.

Andrea continued, motioning her hand in her pocket "Therefore, I will
demonstrate the main change around here."

The Gym teacher withdrew a pack of cigarettes and lighter from her pocket to
every male teachers shock and horror. She proceded to light up and take a
heavy initial puff.

She continued, waving the cigarette around allowing the smoke to spread all
over the room.

"This is where we are going to go our seperate ways, gentlemen." 

Suddenly, the room door was charged open and a dozen female teachers burst
into the room armed with weapons. Giles also noticed that they all were
smoking and their weapons were staring at them. Giles sat, like the rest of
the men, paralysed with fear and shock at the turn of events.

Andrea concluded with a wry smile "Please co-operate gentlemen, this does not
have to violent - yet"


Buffy awoke slowly, feeling a sharp pain oozing from her scalp.  Immediately,
she sub-consciously took a large puff on a cigarette dangling from her lips.
Buffy panicked as she felt the harsh intake of smoke filter into her lungs
and thought to herself: What has Willow done to me?

Willow sat on the edge of the bed, smiling and smoking away happily in front
of her helpless victim. 

As the smoke was fully inhaled from the first puff, Buffy suddenly felt a
disturbing, relaxing sensation inside. The Slayer then unknowingly reached to
remove the burning cigarette from her lips and exhaled a long stream of
smoke. Relief and happiness then filtered through Buffy's emotions and her
urgent, panicked state to find the enemy soon decreased. 

"You enjoyed that puff, didn't you?" Willow asked

Buffy replied with reluctance as she felt a weighed down "Yes."

"The more you smoke, Buffy the clearer our objective will reach you." Willow
smiled

Buffy felt slightly worried about the 'objective' - about what she was
becoming. However, she moved the cigarette towards her lips again and
proceeded to take a puff. More relaxation began to overrule her body. 

Coredelia and her friends, all smoking, entered the room smiling at their
latest recruit. 

"Is that Buffy ready, Willow?" Cordelia asked, whilst exhaling a ball of
smoke into the air.

"Almost. She has a strong will which is currently stopping her from
committing to our cause. However, she will succumb to us the longer she
smokes. We will just have to keep on encouraging her." Willow replied,
smiling at the Slayer becoming part of the enemy.

Willow asked "Right, Buffy - are you ready for a night out?"

The Slayer continued to relunctantly puff away whilst replying "Yeah."
