Chapter 7 - Partying Into Evening

"Jeannie, we'd better get back.  The chip bowls probably need filling.  I
have more sandwiches in the fridge, too, if somebody hasn't already raided
them.  Jeannie took one last puff on her cigarette, giving Bobby another
show.  Nadia did the same.  The cigarettes were crushed and added to the
plastic bag.  "Hey, guys!  Don't leave your ciggy butts on the ground, ok?
Put them in this bag.  I don't want my mom having a cow in the morning,
right?  Tell the others, too, will you?"  Heads nodded, assurances were
given.  Nadia thanked them as she and Jeannie headed back.

More kids were dancing now as the sun eased behind the trees.  Others were
splashing one another in the pool.  Marie and Bobby were still snuggled in
the lounge chair, the occasional relatively innocent kiss exchanged.  Jeannie
and Nadia got out more sandwiches, another jar of sweet pickles, making sure
to fill all the chip bowl.  Fresh dip was put out.  The party was good to go.

"Want to go change, Jeannie.  There's no sense waiting for the rush, right?"  

Jeannie nodded.  "Let's go.  It's time to make ourselves beautiful."  

Nadia giggled.  "Girl, you don't look so bad right now.  Just add those
silver hoops of yours and the bracelets and you'll be good to go!"

They headed up to Nadia's bedroom.  Missy and Chrissy were already there,
putting on their finishing touches.  They were doing their "twins routine"
tonight in matching outfits.  Each wore dark brown short shorts, halter tops
and cute brown sandals.  Their gold hoops and studs set the outfit off
nicely.  Their autumn brown-gold makeup complimented their generally darker
tones.

Missy took out her pack of Marlboro Menthol Lights.  "Do you mind, Nadia?"
Nadia bit her lower lip.  

"Gee, I don't know, Missy.  You know.  Mom and dad?"  

Missy smiled.  "Nadia, your dad's seen me smoking.  Well, he's probably not
sure if it was me or Chrissy.  I was out in the back yard when he walked out
on your deck.  I just waved without thinking.  He just waved back and smiled.
C'mon, ok?  We can share.  Just lock your door for a few."  

Nadia thought for a moment.  "Well, ok.  I guess it'll be all right.  Open
the window, will you, Chrissy?"  

Chrissy nodded and slid open the window.  Missy took out a clean ashtray from
her beach bag.  "I'm a good girl scout, always prepared," she grinned.  The
girls laughed.  Missy dug out her lighter, placed the cigarette between her
lips and brought the flame near.  She drew on her cigarette gently, passing
it to Chrissy as she inhaled.  "MMMmmm, that's good."  Chrissy inhaled and
passed the cigarette to Jeannie.  Jeannie nodded, took it, inhaled smoothly,
tapping the cigarette against the ashtray and exhaled with a deep sigh.  She
offered it to Nadia who shook her head.  

"I'd better not, not here.  Thanks anyway."  

The cigarette was quickly finished, ashes dumped into the toilet with the
butt.  Missy wiped the ashtray clean, tossing the paper in with rest and
flushed.  The ashtray went back into the bag.  Missy thanked Nadia, leaving
her with Jeannie.  "See you downstairs, ok."  

Nadia and Jeannie touched up their makeup.  Nadia chose her silver dangles
and ear studs.  Jeannie put on her big silver hoops and trademarked silver
bracelets, 3 on each wrist.  Jeannie's white v-neck, spaghetti-strap blouse
left her midriff bare.  Her white shorts topped her long legs and showed off
her tight little fanny.  And her white sandals were just perfect.  Nadia's
outfit was a virtual copy in pink.  Both girls were stunning, each in her own
way.  Nadia decided that her small pink purse with the gold chain strap would
hold all she needed.  A compact, lipstick, along with her new cigarettes and
lighter were placed inside.  Jeannie's fanny pack served the same purpose.
She wore it jauntily off her hip.  Each checked the other out, nodded
approval and out the door.
