Part 3

Nicole awoke the next morning with her throat feeling a little scratchy. She
felt a little embarrassed at what she had done the day before. She felt her
throbbing feet, still aching from her first experience with heels, as she
slipped into her black school pumps. The `old' Nicole was back, she thought,
as she made her way to school.

With no English class today Nicole was able to avoid Lisa for much of school.
She spent some time with Stephanie and boyfriend Darren. She felt guilty
hearing of her friend's exploits in the gymnastic competition. She realised
that any hint to Stephanie about her behaviour the previous day would most
probably risk their friendship. On coming down the stairs before the break
she spotted Lisa out of the window. As usual she was scurrying towards the
boiler house. Nicole could even see the cigarette brazenly in her hand, ready
to be lit! With teachers patrolling this was always a great risk. Nicole felt
safe inside and out of temptation's way! Soon she began to have rather
wistful thoughts...

The next morning the girls were back in the English class. Nicole admitted to
herself that she had actually missed Lisa and looked forward to catching up
with her. On being asked if she had enjoyed her visit two days earlier Nicole
responded very positively. Lisa then suggested that they continue to work on
their project later that same day. Nicole was more than tempted but was
certain that the bad girl would come out to play again. She knew that she
should refuse this invitation but lacked the strength of character to do so.
Hours later she was again heading for Lisa's house. As the girls walked along
the quiet lane which led to the back of the house Lisa again offered Nicole a
cigarette. Without much hesitation she accepted and both girls sparked up.
Nicole, still prim in her tidy uniform, of course felt very self-conscious
about this first smoking in public, despite the quietness of the lane.

As the girls came through the back gate, Lisa's mother was hanging out a
basket of washing. She had seen her daughter smoking often enough now and
expressed no great surprise but did remark that she had found a fellow silly
girl puffing away. Nicole was mortified at this first exposure as a smoker
and turned many shades of red. The girls chatted for a few minutes, finished
their cigarettes and went into the house. With her mother at home Lisa knew
that there was no possibility of smoking indoors. She therefore suggested
that they both change and go back out.

Nicole, still fazed by her meeting with Lisa's mum, would have agreed to any
plan. She had not brought a change of clothing so she borrowed some of
Lisa's. This inevitably meant a low cut top, short skirt and a pair of
stilettos. Nicole almost felt her personality change as she donned the new
clothing. With Lisa's assistance she also applied a liberal coating of makeup
before the girls made their way to the local park. Although struggling a
little in the heels, Nicole felt exhilarated and dangerously dirty as she
walked with Lisa. Safe in the park she accepted another cigarette and smoked
along with her friend. Lisa noticed that her inhales were becoming a bit
deeper with every draw. Rounding a bend they spotted Marcus and Ryan, a
couple of boys in their year at school. The boys were also smoking and they
greeted Lisa warmly. At first they did not recognise her attractive friend.
On discovering it was Nicole they were both openly stunned. Both knew Nicole
from various classes and had previously dismissed her as a swot and a geek.
Neither had really spoken to her before.

Nicole tried to remain composed but felt very self-conscious with the
cigarette burning in her hand. Aware of the boys' stares, she calmly
attempted a languid drag. At the same time she now knew that things were
definitely going to change. The old Nicole was becoming history. She would
probably be the talk of a few classes the next time in school when word of
this exchange got around. At this particular moment, though, she was glad to
accept the compliments and the plentiful supplies of cigarettes which the
boys were keen to offer. They walked to a nearby bench and sat down together.
They all sat for an hour chatting about school and smoking heavily, Nicole
almost keeping pace with the other three much more experienced smokers. The
boys were fascinated at this change in Nicole. Buzzing from the smoking and
feet raw from the long walk in the heels, Nicole was still excited on her
return from the park. She showered at Lisa's house then returned home again
transformed into the scholarly Nicole. She was well aware that her next
experience in school was going to be very interesting!
