Nikki's Team

Part 4

Carol got home from school to a package marked 'read now'.

Carol,

We are pleased that you like our product.  As the makers of Nikki we are happy
to see such positive response.  We would like to increase our testing base.
You have indicated favorable reaction from your sister both to your smoking
and to Nikki's.  Please light a cigarette before continuing. (Carol happily
did so.)  We offer you the chance to share this feeling with her and to have
her join in our research.  It would help our study greatly.  Enclosed is a
form to be filled out only if you are satisfied enough with our product to
offer Julie the same chance.  Accept the enclosed for your help so far.

Carol took a drag on her Nikki and thought about the note as she opened the
envelope marked 'Thank You' to find $50.  She pocketed the money and took a
deep drag.  I wonder if Julie would want to try it.  Carol opened the door and
went inside.  "Hello," she said.

   She was met with her sister's trio of voices. "Hi."  They discussed their
day with one another over homework.  Carol smoked twice in that time.  She
sometimes blew out her smoke in Julie's direction.  Julie wasn't offended.
Carol made a decision.

   "Julie, come to our room with me, I've want to show you something," Carol
said, "I think you'll like it."  They left their sisters and went.

   "What is it Carol?" Julie asked.

   Carol lit up and said, "You like the way my Nikki's smell, you've told me
so.  They taste even better.  If you want to, you can try it."  She put her
cigarette in the ashtray.  "Pick it up."  Julie did.  "Go on."

   Julie took a puff.  "They do taste better."  She took another.

   "Breathe in next time," Carol said.

   Julie easily did it.  The smoke was delicious.  She exhaled and liked what
she saw.  She tried again, taking a deeper pull.  Just as good.  "Can I have
this?"

   "Sure, I'll just light another," Carol answered as she lit one for herself.
"Inhale deeper, Julie."  Julie did as she was told.  She was glad she did.
"How good is that?"  Julie could only smile as she sampled some more of the
Nikki.  As the girls continued to smoke, Carol said, "Now that you're trying
it, would you want to become part of the study?"

   "You mean just like you Carol?  Yes I would," Julie replied.  She tried
more.

   They finished their cigarettes and Carol said.  "I've got to do a form."
She went to the desk and said, "Just give me a few minutes."

Carol,

We are pleased that our product impacted you enough to want others to
experience it.  We are hopeful that Nikki's can bring the same pleasure to
others that it has no doubt brought to you.  Your continued cooperation will
be looked upon favorably.  Continue enjoying Nikki's.  Leave this outside your
door when done.  

Was Julie pleased with our product?  Yes, she loved the taste and loved
inhaling right away.
Did she inhale?  You bet
If so, how much?  Right after her second puff.
Is she willing to join us?  Yes, definitely.
If no, stop.  Continue only when yes.

Continue sharing your Nikki's with her freely.  Have her smoke with you often.
We applaud your unselfishness with your Nikki's, and are glad to have Julie
with us.

"Hey Julie, you want to smoke again?"

"Duh!, sure," Julie answered.  Carol let her take her own from the pack.  She
put it to her lips, waiting for the light from Carol, which was not far off.
She inhaled and thought about how lucky she was.  

   "I'll be right back," Julie said as she went to put the letter outside.
Julie didn't mind.  She'd be happy to sit here and smoke her Nikki.  Carol
returned after a few minutes.  "Ready to head back?"

   Julie finished her Nikki.  She exhaled and said, "Ok.  This is good.
Thanks."

   "No problem sis," Carol said.  They passed the time until dinner, which was
very tasty.  Shortly after Carol lit her now routine after dinner Nikki, the
doorbell rang.  Her mother went to answer it.

   "No one was there when I got there," Sarah said, "but there was a package
for you Carol.  It's from the firm and says urgent."  Carol took it to her
room and opened it.

Carol,

You will now enter the next part of our research.  Enjoy these new boxes of
Nikki's.  They are only for you.  Carry both kinds with you, but share only
the other Nikki's with others.  Please have your parents visit us ASAP so we
can update them.  We have enclosed $500 for your work so far.

   "You and dad have to visit the company mom," Carol told Sarah.

   "I think we can go tonight.  I'll tell your father."  

   Carol went to her room to look at the package.  She found the cash and
packs of 'Nikki's that had a gold star on them, and a colorful 'Nikki' lighter
She tried one.  It was stronger than the others were.  When she inhaled, the
smoke was more full, and her exhales were more creamy.  She went back to her
family and her father told her he was going with her mother to the company.
