Day 4

I slept over, afraid as I went to sleep that I would be late for school the
next morning. But she woke we at five am by handing me a steaming cup of
coffee and a lit cigarette. I took them both, enjoyed them, and then we had
sex in the shower. By six, I was at home, changing my clothes, and I was at
my desk a few minutes early as always, trying to think about anything but my
time with Jean. 

I checked my email as soon as my third period class was over and there was a
Stuffit archive from her that I was certainly afraid to open on my iMac at
school. I downloaded the archive to disk and just then Freya stuck her head
in my empty classroom. We both had fourth period off, and she asked me if I
wanted to go outside with her. She said she wanted to hear all about my date.

"What makes you sure I called her ?" I asked.

"I tried calling you around eleven, but there was no answer."

The way she said this was so neutral I wondered if I had made some sort of
mistake somewhere along the last twenty-four hours, but then she smiled.

"I mean, you better have called her or I'd be very disappointed in you."

I laughed and joined her.

It was a beautiful day. High Spring, warm and smelling of growing things.
When we were outside, Freya lit two cigarettes without asking if I would like
one.

I was in a playful mood. "I didn't ask for that," I said, but lightly. She
smiled, walked behind me, and brought the cigarette to my lips. Her breasts
were pressing into my back and her nipples were hard. I obediently smoked for
her. She inhaled, brought her mouth close to my ear, and smoke trailing from
her mouth, said "Now tell me all about it."

"A gentleman doesn't-"

She used the cigarette to interrupt me.

"I certainly hope that you're not entirely a gentleman, I can't bear the
thought of spending my time in a room with a perfect gentleman. She's young
and gorgeous and from what I've gotten to know of her helping to plan the
conference-" and here I remembered suddenly that Freya was on the curriculum
planning team and I had the worst feeling I had been set up, accurately, I
might add- "she is very intelligent. Now, when you're not smoking, talk."

We smoked two cigarettes that way, and I told her everything, although I did
not offer to show her the pictures. She remained pressed close to me the
whole time and when I was done she handed me the second cigarette, half
smoked.

"Now it's my turn," she said, and that was the first time that we kissed.
