Dear ASFS,  The response to my first post (not letter I learned) was 
overwhelming!  I've tried to answer every one and hope you will continue 
to correspond with us.  Since the first one seems to have been well 
received, I'll share another personal story about the first time we went 
to dinner after I started smoking again.

My husband and I had our first cigarette together on Wednesday and he was 
dying to take me to dinner on Friday.  When I came home from work, he had 
set out some of my clothes for me to wear that are his favorites.  I was 
all too happy to oblige because I know that he has another fetish for a 
certain type of clothes, but I'll keep that a secret!  (Nothing bizarre 
by the way).

Since we hadn't told our daughter that mom was smoking, we couldn't go 
out for a cigarette before dinner.  We also have agreed not to smoke in 
the house or car for her sake, so I was definitely ready for a cigarette 
by the time we got to the restaurant around 7:30.  It was a gorgeous 
place with plush carpeting and leather upholstered seating.  As the 
hostess met us she asked how many were in our party and if we wanted 
smoking or no smoking.  My husband looked at me and smiled and announced, 
"Two for smoking, please."

As soon as we were seated, I reached for pack of Capris but my husband 
asked me to wait a minute as he had a surprise for me.  He asked me to 
close my eyes and then handed me a beautifully shaped case that looked 
like it contained jewelry.  I opened it and was surprised to find a 
beautiful gold lighter inside.  It was so thin and attractive.  I thanked 
him and told him he shouldn't have-it looked so expensive!  I said, 
"Honey, how much was this?"  He said lighters ranged from $25 to over 
$100.  He said he didn't care how much it had cost because he had been 
waiting eight long years to give it to me.  I said, "You've had this for 
eight years"?  He said, "Yes, and I've thought about this moment a 
million times.  I can't believe it's finally happening!"

Then I reached for a Capri and brought it gently to my lips while he lit 
it.  I took a long, luxurious pull on it and blew out a thick stream of 
blue smoke.  I savored it, smokly slowly and inhaling deeply.  I finished 
the cigarette, then dinner and couldn't wait to light another!  My 
husband never took his eyes off me the entire evening!  I had his total 
undevided attention and all because I was doing something that I love to 
do anyway!

I'll save the rest of that evening at a night club for next time!  I 
really have enjoyed all the responses and my husband has offered 
perspective when I don't quite understand your concerns.  I would like 
him to get involved, too, but I think he's having more fun watching me 
have fun (and smoke!).  Please keep in touch.
