Kelly's Wedding by Gray Haze Part 5 - Hardcore Kelly Kelly awoke at six to a heavy cough. It was her lungs trying to expel some of the muck deposited on them from the smoke of four packs of cigarettes she smoked the day before. Are my twin baby lungs hungry, she thought as she reached over to the nightstand and grabbed her pack It was a new pack so she tore of the wrapper and then pulled two cigarettes out and lit them both simultaneously. Don't worry, mommy has two bottles for you, she said to them as she inhaled that first puff. Her sister Kari had shown her a technique to help really load up on nicotine. At first she thought it was silly, but on her long drive back yesterday, she decided that maybe she would give it a try. A nice pick me up, first thing in the morning she figured. It was really quite simple. She would take one five second puff with one cigarette, inhale and hold the smoke in her lungs for five more seconds. Then instead of exhaling she would take another five second puff off the other cigarette, hold that smoke on top of the other for five more seconds, and then she would spend the next ten seconds taking small breaths of fresh air while trying to keep at least some smoke in her lungs. Then she would take another puff off the first cigarette, while simultaneously emptying the remainder of the smoke through her nose. She figured that for five minutes, she could smoke two cigarettes while keeping her lungs constantly bathed in smoke. Kelly smoked quietly as she marveled at the huge hit of nicotine that was hitting her brain. The euphoria she was receiving from efficiently feeding her morning craving was incredible. Once finished she crushed out her cigarettes and sat motionless for the next minute basking in the incredible sensation her body was now feeling. I definitely need to make this part of my morning routine, she thought to herself while sitting there in bed. She then got up, grabbed her pack of cigarettes and headed for the coffee maker. She chained through three more cigarettes while sipping her coffee. She then ate a quick bowl of cereal and then chained through three more cigarettes while she enjoyed another cup of coffee. At seven o'clock, she crushed out her eighth cigarette of the morning and then headed for the shower. She took a ten minute shower and then lit up another cigarette while she dried off; another; while she got dressed, and yet another while she did her hair and make-up. At seven thirty she crushed out her 11th cigarette of the morning. She smoked three more before she got in her car and left for work and another three while she drove to work. At 8:20 she put her 17th cigarette out in the butt receptacle outside the main door at work. Well, that should keep me juiced up until lunch, she laughed to herself as she sat down to start her day at work. By 9:00, she started feeling that familiar tug from her body asking for nicotine. By 9:30 she was suffering from a full blown nicotine fit. Wow, it's going to be tough making it to lunch, she thought to herself while she tried to work through it. At 9:45, she saw Bev and Carol pass by her cubicle with their packs of cigarette in the hand. They were heading to the court yard to take their morning break. Nobody at work knew that Kelly smoked and at first she wanted to keep it that way. It was a small company and management frowned on smoking. She always thought that the few smokers that did work there didn't seem to get any of the promotions. But Kelly couldn't take it any longer. She was a smoker now and was tired of hiding it. Plus, she was dying for a cigarette so she grabbed her purse and headed to the courtyard. Once outside she saw both Bev and Carol both lighting up their cigarettes while sitting at a table. "Mind if I join you guys?" Kelly said as she pulled a chair out at the table to join them. "Sure, Kelly," Carol said through a talking exhale. "It's not often people join us smoking pariahs on our break." Kelly then reached into her purse, pulled her cigarettes out and lit up. "I didn't know you smoked, Kelly," Bev said as she watched Kelly inhale her first puff. "When did you start?" "I started about three months ago," Kelly said as she lifted the cigarette up to take another puff. She then performed one of her patented cheek hollowing five second drags, followed by a deep inhale and then said through a talking exhale, "I don't normally smoke at work, but I was having a big time nicotine fit, and couldn't take it any longer." "Well, Kelly, it sounds like you've got yourself good and hooked on these things," Bev said as she flick her ash onto the ground. "Yes, I guess I have," Kelly said after taking another puff. "But I don't care, I really love to smoke." "Well, welcome to our club Kelly," Carol said with a laugh. "Welcome to the club of total nicotine addicts." "Thank you, Carol," Kelly said, laughing. "I'm happy to join your club." Carol and Bev finished there cigarettes and both started nibbling on the muffins they brought out. When Kelly finished, she decided to chain into another. Her body still wanted more, and she wasn't going to deprive it any longer. "So Kelly, you've only been smoking for three months," Carol said between bites of her muffin. "You smoke like a veteran of many years." "Its kind of unusual for someone to start smoking in their twenty's, most of us smokers started as teenagers," Bev said. "Yeah, I guess so. But I tried it for the first time with some friends and found I liked it," Kelly answered back. "Before I knew it, I was hooked." Both Bev and Carol ate their muffins quickly and immediately lit up another cigarette. Kelly followed shortly behind by lighting up her third in a row. "So, do you guys come out here on your afternoon break as well?" Kelly asked after lighting her third cigarette. "Yes, we do," Carol replied. "We also come out here for a quick smoke at 11 and 4 as well." "The boss doesn't like us coming out at 11 and 4, but we've been doing it for years and he hasn't yelled at us yet," Bev chimed in. "We come out during lunchtime as well," Carol continued. "Well, at least when the weather is nice." "Then I guess I will see you in an hour," Kelly said as she got up to go to back to work. Kelly got back to her desk at a little after 10 and went to work now that her massive craving was fed. At 10:30 she started feeling that gently little tug from her body reminding her that it wanted more nicotine. By 10:55 that tug couldn't be ignored any longer, so Kelly reached in her purse and pulled out her pack. She opened it up to see how many were left, but found it empty. "Wow, I just opened this pack up this morning," she thought to herself as she threw the empty package in her trash. She then opened another pack up, grabbed her lighter and headed for the courtyard. She got there a few minutes before 11. Bev and Carol weren't there so she lit up while standing in the courtyard. A few minutes later Bev and Carol joined her. She finished before they did, so she lit another. Bev and Carol only smoked a quick one, and then got back to work. Kelly finished her second and got back to her desk at 11:10. At noon, she went outside to join Bev and Carol. She had an hour for lunch, so Kelly made good use of it. She chained two quick ones before she started to eat and smoked another four while relaxing afterwards. She joined them again at 2:30 and smoked three during her fifteen minute break and had two quick ones again at 4:00. She left work at 5:00, and smoked three more on the way home in the car. By 6:00 she finished her second pack. She smoked the rest of the night at a rate of five per hour. By the time she went to bed, she had smoked more than three packs that day. After she crawled into bed, she reached over to her nightstand and grabbed her cigarettes. Time for your night time bottles, she said to her lungs as she pulled two cigarettes out of her pack. This should make you sleep nice until morning, she told them as she inhaled deeply. Kelly now was completely committed to smoking. She smoked about three and a half packs a day during the week and four plus on weekends. She stopped and bought three cartons at the smoke shop every Saturday. She no longer thought about the health effects. Life was now about pleasure and of course Jim. She was starting to even enjoy her morning cough. She loved giving her crying lungs their morning bottles. In August, Jim and Kelly spent a week together at a small cabin by a lake. It was there that Jim finally told Kelly how much he loved her, and it was there that they first made love. Jim brought plenty of cigars and they smoked one after dinner every night. Kelly even smoked a cigar once while having sex. That was one of the most incredible experiences she ever had had. But Jim got the most kick out of watching Kelly's morning smoking routine. "Kelly honey, what on earth are you doing," he said as he watched Kelly light up two cigarettes simultaneously. "You mean these," she said while looking at her cigarettes. "I'm feeding my babies their morning bottles." "Your what!" Jim said with befuddlement. "My babies," Kelly said while smoke spewed from her nose and mouth. "Didn't you hear them crying this morning?" "The only thing I heard was you hacking up a storm," Jim responded. "That was my babys' way of telling me they were hungry," Kelly said as she paused to take another puff. "So I give them their bottles, one for each." "You got to be kidding," Jim said as he was laughing uncontrollably. "I'm glad to see that your lungs have a good mother to take care of them." "Hey maybe you should try it," Kelly said with a smile. "My babies find it incredible first thing in the morning." "I think I'll stick with one at a time," Jim said as he reached down to Kelly's pussy. "So, does this baby need some feeding to? I have a bottle, and it is filled with nice warm milk." "Oh Jimmy, you know it does," Kelly said as she crushed out her cigarettes. The week with Jim was the best of Kelly's life. She had met the man of her dreams, and she now knew she was the women of his dreams. Their relationship continued to blossom after that week. They would see each other every weekend and usually several times during the week. Their sex life was awesome, and Jim would spend the night at Kelly's often. Within months of her decision to become a committed smoker, Kelly's smoking habit became more and more fully rooted. She hardly even realized every time she lit up, which was often. She did it automatically more out of habit than anything else. This habitual smoking was evident when her parents visited her for a weekend in September. She remembered what her mother said about her sister's smoking and tried to make an effort to reduce her own in their presence. She didn't want her mother worrying about her heavy smoking. But Kelly's smoking habit was now so thoroughly entrenched, she wasn't able to cut down at all that weekend, even though she wanted to. Her parents did get to meet Jim for the first time. They went out sailing for the day. They both were impressed with Jim, and found him to be very charming. Kelly's dad was a fisherman like Jim, and they talked for hours about it while they both managed the sailboat. Her mother finally mentioned Kelly's smoking just before they left. It was a Sunday morning, and Kelly was doing her usual morning smoking routine, which basically consisted of smoking non-stop for two hours. "Well Kelly, any doubts that you had a few months ago about being a smoker sure has seemed to pass," her mother said after watching Kelly chain into another cigarette after another. "Yes, I guess it has mom," Kelly said with a smile. "I guess you can say I no longer consider smoking to be disgusting. Quite the contrary, I find it to be enormously pleasurable. It looks like I will be sucking on these things for the rest of my life after all. I'm good and hooked now, and to be honest, I couldn't be happier." "Are you still smoking because of Jim," her mother asked. "Well, it started out that way," Kelly replied back while crushing out a cigarette. "But now I'm smoking for me." "I just wish you wouldn't smoke so much though," her mother responded with concern. "I think that you're worse than your sister. Don't you realize how bad smoking is, and particular how dangerous heavy smoking is?" "I know mom," Kelly responded back while extracting another cigarette out of her pack. Kelly then lit it and took her normal five second drag, deep inhale and then continued through a talking exhale. "I can't explain it mom. I don't set out to smoke so much when I wake up in the morning, but by the time I go to bed, I've smoked four packs without even realizing it. I guess that I am really, really hooked and I just can't seem to stop smoking so much. That said though, I love smoking, and I guess I just can't get enough." Jim and Kelly continued dating through the fall and winter. Winters were particularly harsh in northern Minnesota. Thus, Kelly like most everyone else spent most of it indoors. Her apartment was small, and with all her smoking indoors, it began to smell and look like an ashtray by spring time. Kelly had found one more negative about smoking that she didn't know last summer. Come spring time she couldn't wait to air out her apartment and scrub the walls which had become quite dingy from tobacco smoke. While she was doing her spring cleaning, she noticed that the water in the bucket she used to clean the walls got browner and browner as she washed. If my walls look like this, just imagine what my lungs look like, she thought as she looked at the brown water. And yet, she continued to smoke as she scrubbed. It didn't deter her at all. In April, Kelly celebrated two events, her one year anniversary of smoking and dating Jim. She celebrated her one year anniversary of smoking by doing what she always did, smoking like a chimney. She celebrated her anniversary with Jim by cleaning Jim's sailboat and then enjoying a romantic evening together that night on the sailboat. They enjoyed the spring and summer together sailing, fishing, and spending as much time as possible together. In July, they flew to Cancun, Mexico and spent the week there together. In late August, Jim asked Kelly to spend Saturday fishing with him. As usual, Kelly fixed the picnic lunch. Jim took Kelly with him often to go fishing, he would fish all over northern Minnesota. The land of 10,000 lakes had plenty of places to go. This time though, he took Kelly back to the place where they first went fishing together, the small stream hidden out in the middle of nowhere. Kelly set up the picnic blanket on that shale ledge just like the first time, while Jim started fishing. "Oh Jimmy, why don't we come here more often," Kelly said as she sat down and lit a cigarette. "This is such a beautiful place." Jim fished for an hour and then joined Kelly for lunch. After lunch, Kelly poured them both glasses of wine, while she continued to enjoy her after lunch cigarette. As they relaxed, Jim looked over to Kelly and kissed her. "Kelly, I've got something to ask you," he said as he backed his head away from Kelly. "Sure Jim, you can ask me anything," Kelly responded. "Kelly, I have fallen so deeply in love with you that I can't imagine living life without you. You are the most caring, loving, passionate and fun loving person I have ever met," Jim said as Kelly quietly listened. "Would you Kelly O'Neil, do me the honor of becoming my wife, and spending the rest of my life with me?" "Jim, there is nothing more that would make me happier than marrying you," Kelly said as tears flowed down her cheek. "Yes, God yes, I will." Kelly's hand was visibly shaking as Jim placed the 1 carat solitaire on her finger. They then kissed and held each other, sharing in the joy of the new engagement. The rest of the afternoon, they talked and dreamed. Jim didn't fish again the rest of the day as he didn't want to leave Kelly's side. Kelly told Jim about how she always dreamed what her wedding would be like. Jim told her that she could have any kind of wedding that she wanted. They never talked about having children before, but now they did. Jim wanted lots of kids, and Kelly told him that she wanted many as well. Kelly also told him that if possible, she wanted to quit work and get started on the family soon after the wedding. Jim was quite well off and had a great job, so money wasn't an issue. He'd love nothing more than to have a traditional marriage and a mother home to raise the kids. "You know Kelly, there is one more thing I have to say to you," Jim said as he lit one of Kelly's cigarettes up for her. "Oh, what is it, honey," Kelly responded while inhaling the smoke deeply. "I just want you to know, that I will always be faithful to you, and I promise, I will never lie to you. I think honesty is vital in a marriage, and I will never keep anything from you," Jim said intensely. "I have never lied to you about anything, and I never will." "Oh Jimmy, I promise the same," Kelly said as she started thinking. "But, I need to tell you something. Please don't get mad, but I have lied to you once, and although I don't regret it, I need to tell you about it." "Gosh Kelly, what do you mean that you lied to me?" Jim said with a puzzled look. "You are the most honest, open person I have ever met." "Remember the first time you called me?" Kelly said after she blew a cloud of smoke toward the sky. "I told you that I couldn't go out with you that night, because I promised my grandmother that I would take her to the movies." "Well, vaguely, I guess," Jim responded. "I do remember waiting two weeks to go out though." "Well I lied, I didn't take my grandmother to the movies," Kelly continued. "In fact my grandmother lives in Milwaukee with the rest of my family." "OK, but why would you do that?" Jim said while still puzzled. "Why didn't you want to go out that night?" "It's because I lied to you about something else earlier in the conversation," Kelly said as she lifted her cigarette to take another puff. "Well, if I knew that you were such a liar, I would have never gone out with you," Jim said while laughing. "So what was it that you lied about?" "Do you remember during the conversation you had asked me if I smoked?" Kelly said through a talking exhale. "Yes, and you said that you did," Jim responded as he pulled a cigarette out of his pack. "I don't see how you lied there." "Well Jim, you might find this hard to believe, but I never smoked a day in my life before I met you," Kelly said as she paused to take one last puff from her spent cigarette. "So I wasn't truthful to you about my smoking." "Yeah, and the Pope ain't Catholic either," Jim said while laughing. "Kelly, you have done nothing but smoke since the day we met. In fact, I've never met anybody who smokes like you do." Jim then paused to light another cigarette up for Kelly. "I mean, look, you just put a cigarette out seconds ago, and here I am lighting another one up for you. Kelly, you are a human smoking machine and have been since the day I met you." "I know it may seem hard to believe now, but I really never smoked before I met you," Kelly said after exhaling the smoke from her newly lit cigarette. "The reason I lied about grandma was that I had to learn how to smoke before we went out. I needed those two weeks to learn." "I don't get it Kelly, why would you ever take up smoking just to go out with me?" Jim said as he stopped laughing. "I don't see what the two have to do with one another." "Well, I heard that you only went out with other smokers," Kelly replied back. "Not only that, I heard that you only went out with real heavy smokers. I wanted to go out with you so badly, that I panicked on the phone, and told you that I did smoke so that you would ask me." "Where did you ever get such a silly idea from?" Jim said while laughing again. "If anything, I was worried that you wouldn't go out with me because I smoked." "You mean you don't mind going out with non-smokers?" Kelly said meekly. "Of course I don't," Jim responded back. "Smoking is like really bad for you. Smoking is a personal decision. I would never wish smoking on anyone, let alone require them to be a smoker. That said, it is easier going out with a fellow smoker, someone who had made that choice for themselves. It just isn't on the top of my list of things I look for." "I don't get it. My friend Holly told me that you left her cousin Beth because she wasn't a hardcore smoker," Kelly said. "You told Beth that the next girl you were going to date was going to be a hardcore smoker so that you wouldn't have to listen to someone who wasn't complaining all the time." "I broke up with Beth because she was the biggest nagging bitch I had ever met," Jim said while laughing. "Smoking wasn't the only thing she nagged me about, but I guess I probably did tell her that out of anger more than need." "You mean you would have gone out with me even if I didn't smoke?" Kelly said through a talking exhale. "Kelly, I fell in love with you the minute I laid eyes on you," Jim said as he touched Kelly's face. "In fact, I would have quit smoking for you if need be. I wanted you that bad!" Kelly started laughing uncontrollably. "Funny how things in life come about," Kelly said while still laughing. "Oh honey, I'm so sorry," Jim said with a concerned look. "You became hooked to these stupid things just for me. I feel terrible." "Please Jim, don't be," Kelly sad as she stopped laughing. "It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Yes, I started smoking for you, but now I smoke for me. I love these things and can't imagine ever stopping. The only thing I love more than my Salem's is you!" "Yeah, you sure do seem to love smoking, that is for sure," Jim said with a smile. "But how in God's name did you ever become such a heavy smoker so quickly? Two weeks isn't very long. It takes most people months, if not years, to get there smoking habit fully developed." "A lot of hard work, you might say," Kelly said. "And besides, I think I was born to smoke." Kelly than spent the next half hour telling Jim all about how she learned to smoke, and how she decided to become a life long smoker - all while she polished off three more cigarettes of her own while telling the story. "Wow, Kelly, that was quite a story, to say the least. But now that you smoke, don't you worry about all the health problems being such a heavy smoker will eventually lead to?" Jim said with concern. "I mean, I'm one to talk. I smoke about two packs a day myself, but you must smoke twice that." "To be honest with you Jim, no," Kelly said as she extracted another cigarette out of her pack. "It doesn't do me any good to worry, so I'm not going to. In fact, I look forward to the day that I can stay home all day watching our babies. I won't have to deprive myself at work anymore. I'll be able to light up anytime I want." "You know Kelly, I barely smoked a pack a day before I met you, now I smoke twice that," Jim said with a grin. "You're such a bad influence." The two set a date of June 30th for their wedding. The next week Jim and Kelly went to Milwaukee where Jim asked Kelly's father for her hand. Of course he said yes, because he was really fond of Jim. The rest of the fall, Kelly and her mother made plans for the wedding. That winter, Kelly quit her job as an accountant. She hated it and wanted to spend more time planning the wedding. She had saved plenty of money, and with some help from Jim, she was able to keep paying for her apartment. Of course she now was able to smoke everyday like it was a weekend, and she did just that. She thought about moving in with Jim, but decided that she wanted to wait until after the wedding so that she could enjoy her last months of freedom. By late April, the invitations were sent out and all of the wedding plans were complete. |
