Smoke & Mirrors Part 34: The Mother and Daughter Reunion: After her sexual episode with Serge, Giselle quickly showered and began to prepare for Suzanne's arrival. She tidied up the family room and prepared a small snack. She had heard the shower go on as Serge began to clean up after his long trip. She paused for a moment, assessing how she had handled the smoking issue with Serge. She smiled as she lit yet another cigarette, inhaling slowly, savoring the taste of her cigarette. It had gone well, she thought. She had trapped him. She remembered how he had whimpered as he agreed to her new smoking habit. She knew that the smoking issue with Serge was now in the past. She knew that she had some type of control over him. Serge was now putty in her hands. The effect that her smoking had on Serge had made her feel very powerful. She realized that her smoking brought out an intense sexual desire in her previously conservative husband. She liked that. She dragged again, watching as she exhaled a thick long plume. She felt very relaxed as well as confident. She again reflected about the changes in herself. Gone were any signs of the former compliant wife. She was now more independent. She could do what she wanted. She loved to smoke. She had a great circle of smoking friends. She had patched up her relationship with Suzanne. All it had taken was to smoke a few cigarettes. Well, she thought, maybe quite a few, as she smiled to herself. It had been a good month, she thought. I'll have to thank Tammy personally. If it had not been for her, she would have never had the courage to handle the situation. She dragged again on the long white cigarette. I just love smoking now. I never thought I would ever feel that way. But I just can't see myself not smoking. There were no thoughts of quitting, only the anticipation of her next cigarette. She was now irreversibly hooked and she knew it It was then that she heard the familiar sound of Serge coming down the stairs. As Serge entered the room, she brought her cigarette to her lips to take another long slow drag. She glanced up to see Serge's eyes riveted on her as her lips sexually caressed her cigarette gently. Her exhale was long and slow. She carefully transferred her cigarette to her left hand and walked over to Serge, slowly giving him a gentle kiss as her arms enveloped him. She pressed her thighs against him. She could feel the stiffness in his pants. She smiled as she rubbed gently against him. Serge blushed perceptibly. She was still in control. Finally the silence was broken as she whispered in Serge's ear. "Serge? Suzanne will be here in a couple hours and I wanted to talk to you before she arrives." "Yes, my love. What is it?" Serge said quietly, still euphoric from their lovemaking. "Well, if you remember, I was to start smoking to make Suzanne feel more comfortable. You now know that I really enjoy smoking?" she said as she gently pressed up against his erect penis. "Yes, I understand, Giselle." he whispered. "I don't want you to say anything about my smoking when Suzanne arrives. I want to wait until the time is right to show her. It's going to be a very important moment for both of us. Do you understand?" she cooed. "Yes, I think so." he said. "One more thing, Serge?" she said more forcefully. "Yes, dear?" Serge said. "You are not to say anything negative about Suzanne's smoking. There will be no talking about quitting. I'm guessing that Suzanne is enjoying her smoking as much as I am now. In fact, I want you to make an effort to complement the both of us on our smoking. I don't want her to feel the least bit guilty about it. Do you understand?" she said, again pressing against him. "Yes." Serge said helplessly, knowing that any resistance would be futile. "Good, I just wanted to make sure that you and I were on the same page." Giselle said confidently as she released her grip on him. She carefully extinguished her cigarette, and immediately lit up another. Serge's eyes remained riveted on the image of his new smoking wife. Giselle continued to chain smoke, anticipating that her smoking would be restricted after Suzanne's arrival. As she went upstairs to change, she wondered whether Suzanne had developed a similar dedication to her cigarettes, just like her mother. She was curious to see how Suzanne looked when she smoked. She knew that she would do it femininely. Her daughter always did things properly. Her eyes began to fill with tears. She realized that her daughter was no longer a little girl, but had passed into womanhood. She continued to chain smoke nervously, trying to prepare her body for its potential starvation that she knew would be just around the corner. As she was washing off the tell tale signs of her smoking from her hands and face, she heard the sound of a car entering the driveway. She carefully applied some perfume to mask the smell of her indulgence. She quickly walked downstairs as she heard the front door opening. She briskly walked over to Suzanne and said lovingly, "Welcome home, Suzanne. It's so wonderful to have you back home." Her arms surrounded her daughter as they hugged. Their eyes were filled with tears as mother and daughter continued to embrace. It was at that moment that her nose caught the smell of smoke on Suzanne. It was very strong, she thought. Suzanne must have just finished a cigarette before they arrived at the house. She smiled. This was a good sign. It reminded Giselle again that she would soon need a cigarette. Jill stood quietly on the sidelines watching the reunion, trying to size up Mrs. Leblanc. She was not surprised to see that Suzanne's mother was as attractive as her daughter. Her mother had obviously passed down her good looks to her daughter. Her curiosity about Mrs. Leblanc's change in attitude towards smoking was again stirred. After the embrace was broken, Suzanne motioned to her friend, "Mother, this is Jill." Jill was taken aback as Giselle reached over to hug her. As they embraced, Jill was sure that she could smell a hint of smoke on Giselle. Her perfume was strong, but she was sure she smelled smoke on her. She smiled as she looked into Giselle's eyes. Hmmm she thought. Very, very interesting. Giselle quickly put out some snacks, and the girls reluctantly sampled the fare. "Suzanne, have you lost weight? I've never seen you look so good." Giselle said, smiling. "Yes, Mom. I'm down a bit. You know, school and stuff. I just don't seem to eat as much as before." She said, smiling, as her hands moved across her flat stomach. The baby fat on her face was now gone. With her good looks and thin figure, she could have easily been mistaken for a model. "Have you changed your hair? I see you are wearing make up too," she said smiling. "I've never seen you look so mature!" Giselle said as she proudly gazed at her daughter while circling her. "Why, thank you mom. Jill has helped a bit. She used to be in beauty school." Giselle laughed. "Maybe she could do something with your old decrepit mother?" Jill jumped in. "Oh Mrs. Leblanc, you're not old. You're still a fox. But maybe I could suggest a few minor changes." She said, thinking what she would look like with an all white between her fingers. The girls all laughed. "Well, maybe tomorrow I'll let you work on me," she said grinning. Jill smiled innocently. "We'll see, Mrs. Leblanc. We'll see." Finally, Serge interrupted as he recalled the conversation that he had had with his wife before Suzanne's arrival. "Suzanne, if you and Jill want to smoke, please go ahead," he said, motioning to the ashtray that was on the coffee table. Suzanne smiled. "Thanks, Dad. That would be great. It's not too cold outside. Jill and I will smoke out on the deck, if that's okay?" "Whatever you like Suzanne, but you know you are welcome to smoke in the house if you change your mind." Serge responded. Giselle caught Serge's eyes and as she nodded with approval. Giselle piped in. "Would you girls like some coffee. I'll join you out on the deck." Jill replied, "That would be great, Mrs. Leblanc," wondering whether Giselle might take this opportunity to light up with the girls. The coffee tray was prepared and Giselle walked out on to the deck just as Suzanne was taking out her cigarettes. Giselle tried to hide her smile as she realized that Suzanne was smoking her brand. She watched as Suzanne lit up. Suzanne was nervous, but could not hold back. She inhaled long and deep as Giselle tried not to stare. Giselle continued to mask her smile. Suzanne smoked deeply, unconsciously trying to recreate the effect of the numerous stronger cigarettes that she had smoked during the trip. She actually wanted to double pump, but held back, not wanting her mother to see how much she needed to smoke. Giselle watched quietly, sipping her coffee. Her own cravings began to intensify as she watched the two young college students enjoying their cigarettes. She could tell by the way that Suzanne was smoking that she was no beginner. She noted the long thick exhales from Suzanne's lips. Little did she know that Suzanne was actually holding back on the intensity of her smoking. Giselle continued to smile at Suzanne, trying to put her at ease. They continued to chat about school and catch up on family news. Suzanne finally relaxed, being grateful and relieved that her first cigarette in front of her mother had been uneventful. "Would anybody like more coffee? There is more on in the kitchen," Giselle said. "That would be great Mrs. Leblanc. I'm game." Jill said, nodding. Giselle turned her back and went into the kitchen through the sliding door. With Giselle gone, Jill quickly offered Suzanne another VS 100. With her mother gone, Suzanne nodded with relief, and double pumped her light up, taking as much smoke in as she could. She reprised her double pump, trying to get as large a hit of nicotine as possible. She held the smoke in as long as she could, not allowing the smoke to exit her body. Finally, she breathed out slowly, with only a small wisp of smoke exiting her nose and mouth. Her body finally began to calm. Giselle returned with the coffee pot, and poured the girls another cup. She noticed immediately that Suzanne had lit another cigarette. She was a smoker, no doubt about it. She had nothing to worry about. They would soon be smoking together. The girls continued to smoke and chat. The temperature started to drop, and Giselle suggested that they move into the house, emphasizing that they should smoke in the house. She reminded them that her friend Danielle smoked there all the time, and that it wasn't a problem. "Please smoke," she said. Both Jill and Suzanne looked at each other with a bit of a surprised look. It almost seemed that Giselle wanted them to smoke. They moved to the family room to watch some TV. They continued to smoke a few more cigarettes. Giselle's tension level continued to rise as her body was screaming for a long deep moist warm drag from a cigarette. Finally, the girls decided that after the long trip that it was time for bed. At about 10:30, both girls went to their bedrooms to get some rest. Giselle was nearly beside herself as she watched the girls go up to their rooms. She desperately needed a cigarette. It has been over 3 hours since her last one. She was experiencing intense nicotine withdrawal. Her mouth was dry and she was getting a slight headache. She looked through her kitchen window and saw that the lights were still on at Danielle's house. She quickly picked up the phone and dialed. She whispered as she talked to Danielle. "Do you mind if I drop by for a coffee?" she said with desperation in her voice. Danielle laughed knowing what was going on, "Yeah, sure, a coffee." she said in a whispered voice. As Giselle came to the back door of Danielle's house, Danielle was there with a freshly lit cigarette. "Here, take this!" she said, smiling as she saw the deep yearning in Giselle's eyes. Giselle sucked long and hard on the cigarette and inhaled. She immediately dragged again, before she had exhaled the first drag. She then held her breath. She dragged once more. She finally felt the effect of the cigarette on her entire being. She held the smoke in as long as she could. Finally, the smoke was released with a long sigh of relief. "Ohhhhh, I needed that," Giselle said, sighing. Danielle smiled. Giselle spoke. "I guess I'm a little bit hooked on these things," she said, smiling sheepishly; smoke continuing to exit from her nose and mouth. "Well, it's sometimes like that. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. We have all gone through it. It happens. I hope you don't regret starting?" Danielle said meekly. "Oh no, not at all. Once I come out of the closet with Suzanne, everything will be fine," she said as smoke flowed out of her nose and mouth. "Could I have another cigarette, please?" "Be my guest," Danielle said, feeling relieved. Giselle lit up the new cigarette with the first cigarette, not wanting to wait to use the lighter that Danielle was using. Giselle continued to smoke with intensity as her body begged for more. She chain-smoked three cigarettes, until she finally felt calm again. As Giselle was leaving, she asked Danielle not to say anything to Suzanne about her smoking when she arrived the next day. "I just want to surprise Suzanne. That's all." Giselle said as she was leaving. Back at the house, Jill had just gone to bed when she heard the neighbor's door slam. Somehow, she had been curious to find out where the noise had come from. She got up to take a quick look through her bedroom window. There through the window, she could see Giselle sitting at the neighbor's kitchen table. To her amazement, she could see Suzanne's mother smoking! "Bingo, she's smoking, and really smoking," she whispered to herself as she watched Giselle inhaling over and over again. "I just knew it!" Tomorrow was going to be so much fun. Wait until Suzanne sees her mom smoking. This was such great news. Being careful not to be seen in the darkened bedroom, she continued to watch Giselle smoke cigarette after cigarette. As she saw Giselle get up to leave, she quietly returned to her bed. Mrs. Leblanc was not just experimenting, she was smoking for real. She found it difficult to sleep, as she anticipated Mrs. Leblanc's coming out. Tomorrow Mrs. Leblanc would need a little push and she would be there to help. The next morning, Giselle was up at 8:00 am, making sure that she would be up before the girls. She quietly snuck outside on the deck and voraciously chain-smoked three cigarettes. With her need finally satisfied she proceeded to shower to wash away the tell tale smell of her indulgence. The girls were up at 9:00, and Giselle made sure there was lots of coffee. An ashtray was placed on the kitchen table for easy access by both girls. She envied the girls as they both lit up and took deep satisfying drags. It had been an hour since her last cigarettes, and her cravings were starting to get the best of her. She had to excuse herself, saying she needed to get some spices at Danielle's. She walked quickly across the lawn. When Danielle saw Giselle at the door, she knew exactly what she wanted. Without saying a word, she passed her the lit cigarette. Giselle double pumped. Danielle laughed as she lit herself another cigarette. "Why don't you tell her already?" she said laughing. Giselle's hand trembled as she dragged heavily. "I will soon. I just want it to be perfect," she said, exhaling a long puff of smoke. Giselle quickly returned home still feeling quite deprived. Jill smiled as she saw Giselle return. She knew what Giselle had been up to. Serge and the girls started to watch the Thanksgiving football games. Suzanne and Jill smoked periodically, Suzanne consciously holding back on her usual consumption pattern. Danielle arrived at 2:00 pm to help Giselle with the dinner preparation. Surreptitiously, Giselle took frequent drags on Danielle's cigarette in the kitchen. Giselle knew she could not go on with this charade much longer. By 3:00 pm dinner was ready to be served. Giselle sat at the head of the table with Jill and Suzanne on either side of her. The meal was sumptuous, but Giselle found it rather tasteless, as there was only one thing on her mind. She needed to smoke a cigarette and she needed it soon. As the coffee was served, Giselle retrieved two ashtrays, and placed one beside Jill & Danielle and one beside her daughter. She was nervous. Would she smoke in front of her daughter? She still wasn't sure. Her body was now screaming for a cigarette. Danielle, Jill and Suzanne retrieved their cigarettes. Giselle watched as Danielle and Suzanne lit up. Jill paused a moment. Giselle was desperate. She watched as the girls took long, deep, satisfying inhales. She could smell the smoke from their cigarettes. She was frantic. Her hands shook slightly as she lifted her cup of coffee to her lips. As she raised her eyes, it was at that moment she saw the extended pack of VS 100's under her nose. A lone cigarette protruded very invitingly from the pack. She heard Jill's voice as her eyes remained riveted on the cigarette. "Would you care for a cigarette, Mrs. Leblanc?" Suzanne's eyes widened in shock and her mouth opened as her jaw dropped. She glared at Jill. Giselle looked up at the shocked expression on Suzanne's face. "That's kind of you, Jill, but no thank you. I have my own." She paused as she reached for her purse that she had placed by her chair before the dinner had started. She opened her purse, located her lighter and her pack of VS 100's, and expertly flipped a cigarette out. She inserted the cigarette deeply between her lips, as she lit up expertly. She dragged long and slow, and snap inhaled a deep long drag. She pursed her lips as she exhaled upwards through her smiling lips. She looked totally satisfied as the smoke escaped from her mouth. Suzanne watched in utter shock. She glanced at her father, who simply raised his shoulders to indicate he had nothing to say. Giselle casually remarked, "It's so great to have an after dinner cigarette. Isn't it?" she said through smiling lips. Suzanne finally got the courage to speak. "Mother, I didn't know that you started smoking!" Giselle smiled. "Well, dear, there are a lot of things you don't know about your mother." She smiled and looked over to Serge. Serge remained silent. "Danielle showed me how," she said, glancing over to Danielle. Danielle blushed and tried to defend her self, by saying that it really wasn't her idea, but Giselle's. "She said I would like it if I tried it. So I did. And I liked it. I liked it a lot." She said, giggling as she took another deep drag to demonstrate that she was no beginner. Jill glanced over admiringly to Danielle. Danielle nodded back in acknowledgement. They both knew what they had done to the Leblanc girls. "Oh mother, it's just so unlike you. You were so against it before." Suzanne said. "Well, I'm a bit embarrassed to say, I really didn't know what I was talking about, dear. After Danielle showed me how to smoke, I grew quickly to enjoy it. I have a lot of friends who smoke. I just like it and have no intention of quitting." She said, looking squarely at Serge. Serge again remained quiet. Jill was almost bursting. "Well, enough talk about my smoking. Anyone interested in pecan pie?" Giselle said emphatically as she took a long double pump as she stood up from the table, knowing that she was showing off a bit. Suzanne's head was spinning. Her mother was smoking like a real smoker. Her mother even inhaled as deeply, if not more deeply, than Suzanne. She certainly looked like she was a real smoker. When and why had her mother started smoking? Had it been because of Suzanne? She hoped that it hadn't been because of her. She would talk with her mother as soon as possible, later that evening in private. All the ladies continued to smoke their cigarettes as they drank their coffee. The pecan pie was quickly consumed, and another round of cigarettes were lit. This time Giselle lit both her daughter's and Jill's cigarettes with her lighter. Finally accepting that this wasn't a dream, Suzanne asked Giselle where she had bought the lovely lighter. Giselle smiled. "Actually, you're father bought this for me. Isn't it lovely?" she said, making Serge squirm a bit. Suzanne examined the heavy gold lighter, as her eyes met her father's eyes. "It's a beautiful gift Dad, how very thoughtful of you." Serge finally spoke up. "Well, once your mother started smoking, I thought that she should have a nice lighter. It looks good. Doesn't it?" he said, trying to be complementary. "It's very nice. You have very good taste." Suzanne said, admiring the elegant lighter. "Well, Giselle enjoys her cigarettes, just as you do, so I just thought it would be a good gift, something she could use." Serge said, glancing over at Giselle, who was smiling as she exhaled yet another long drag. She quietly thought to herself. Very good, Serge. Suzanne smiled. Even her father seemed to be accepting of her mother's smoking. This was going far better than she had ever thought it would. After the dishes were cleared, the family and the guests gathered to watch the next football game. This time, Giselle offered Jill and Suzanne a cigarette from her pack. "Care for one of mine?" she said, jokingly acknowledging that they all smoked the same brand. Suzanne reached out and took a cigarette again in awe. She had just been offered a cigarette by her mother, her own mother. She still couldn't believe it! As the football game progressed. Giselle continued to light up nearly every half hour. Suzanne and Jill easily kept up with Giselle. They opened a window as the room began to fill with smoke. Suzanne carefully watched her mother smoke, recognizing that her mother was certainly no beginner. She smoked each cigarette intensely with purpose, often snap inhaling and holding the smoke in for extended periods of time. She could see how her mother was now much more relaxed and happy. Not once had Giselle corrected her or judged her in any critical way. She had even complemented her on her hair and new makeup. It was the mother she had never had. If her smoking was the cause of this, so be it. She liked the new Giselle very much. She felt closer to her mother at that moment than at any other point in her life. Giselle and Suzanne both dragged in unison, as the room's smoky haze was replenished. At about 8:00, Danielle excused herself and went home. It took until 9:00 to clean up the kitchen. Jill excused herself shortly after realizing that Giselle and Suzanne needed some time together. As Giselle was putting away the last dish, she asked Suzanne if she wanted one last cup of coffee with her. They both sat at the kitchen table, and again Giselle offered another cigarette to Suzanne. Giselle said, smiling, "By the way, if you run out of cigarettes, there is a whole carton in the pantry. Please help yourself." "Thanks, Mom, but I have my own carton," she said. "It sure is amazing that we chose the same brand. Isn't it?" Suzanne said. "Well, when I decided to give smoking a try, Tammy, the girl at the cigarette counter at the grocery store, suggested I try this brand." Giselle said proudly. "Mom? I have a question for you?" Suzanne said with a serious tone in her voice. "Yes. What is it? Giselle responded. "Why did you start smoking?" Suzanne said "Well, I thought I explained that at dinner time.' Giselle said cautiously. "You sort of did, but you never really told me what made you change your mind. Don't you remember how against it you were when you found out that I had started? " Giselle paused and chose her words carefully. "Yes, I guess I was, but things are different now. I want you to know I have no regrets about starting to smoke. I'm sure you feel the same way. I've seen the way you enjoy your cigarettes, just like me. I do have to admit to you Suzanne that I became a little curious when I heard that you had started. I wanted to see what it was like, what you saw in it. Danielle helped a lot. She was my mentor. It was hard at first, but it didn't take long. It got easier and easier. You know? I'm sure you had a similar experience." Suzanne nodded in agreement. Danielle must have encouraged her mother, just like Jill had encouraged Suzanne. Giselle continued, "Once I got used to smoking, I quickly got up to 10 or 12 a day. It was a natural progression, not a conscious decision. The real turning point was when on a bet I smoked a pack a day for about ten days. I wanted to see what it would be like to be a real smoker. By the way, I won the bet." she said, smiling as she dragged deeply on the cigarette. "I don't think I could ever quit now, even if I wanted to. I need my cigarettes. I just love having to satisfy my cravings. I find it very relaxing. One other thing, I've met so many new friends, smokers of course. I was surprised to find out how many people are smokers. I know this sounds crazy, but smokers are just more fun. Don't you think?" Suzanne nodded, silently acknowledged her similar experiences. "What does Dad think of your smoking?" Suzanne said. "At first, he was a bit resistant. After he saw how it relaxed me, he was a bit more accepting. Although he hasn't admitted it, just between us girls, I think he likes the way I look when I smoke. He thinks it's sexy!" "Oh, Mom- No way? "Suzanne said smiling, not willing to admit she knew exactly what her mother was talking about. "Anyways, it's *my* hobby. He plays golf, doesn't he?" Giselle said laughing. "You're not disappointed in me? Are you Suzanne?" Giselle asked tentatively. Suzanne paused. This was too ironic. "Listen Mom, the last time I looked, smoking was legal. You're an adult and you've made the choice to smoke because you enjoy it. You have my blessing to smoke whenever or wherever you want." Suzanne said sarcastically. They both laughed loudly as they remembered their previous telephone conversation. "Mother, can I be honest with you?" Suzanne said seriously. "Of course, Suzanne." Giselle said with compassion in her voice. "You know Jill helped me learn to smoke, just like Danielle helped you. It was my idea, but she certainly gave me a lot of encouragement. Well, she succeeded and I am now a smoker." Giselle nodded with look of understanding as she inhaled deeply. "Mom, I feel the same way about it that you do. I enjoy it too. I feel so much more confident and care free. I have so many new friends. By the way, I haven't mentioned this, but I have a new boyfriend. Of course he smokes too. He's really great, but I'll tell you more about him later. I recognize that there are health concerns, but overall I think it's worth it." Suzanne said with resolve. "Mother, I have never felt closer to you, than I am feeling right now. Suzanne's face began to flush and her eyes began to fill with tears. Giselle's eyes began to well up. Giselle quickly put out her cigarette and reached out to hug her daughter. They both held each other for a long moment. Giselle finally broke the silence. "Well, we had better get ourselves under control. I think I'd like to have a cigarette with my daughter." Suzanne smiled and responded, "I think I'd like to have a cigarette with my mother." Giselle raised her lighter as both girls lit up, void of any fear or guilt or judgment. They both exhaled nearly simultaneously, as they smiled. As the smoke from their exhales mixed in the light of the overhead kitchen light, Suzanne and Giselle were one with their cigarettes. The Smoking Angels glanced at one another and smiled. The Leblanc girls were now theirs, all theirs. Saint Nicotine would be very happy. |
