Sisterhood Of The Smoker Babes, Part 20

Writers Note---Those that enjoy a good science fiction story know that they
need to suspend their beliefs of the real world and allow for the possibility
of things that are out of the ordinary. You will need to do that when you
read this story. With that being said, while the science fiction stuff is
mostly a product of my imagination, many of the smoking scenes are in fact
based on real encounters and sightings that I've experienced throughout
my life. Some have been modified to fit the context of the story but others
remain mostly intact as they actually occurred. Lastly, when reading this I
suggest that you pay attention to the timeline as it is critical to how
you'll draw your conclusions over the story's ending. My email address is

CHAPTER 20 - October 6, 2011 - When dreams come true
    I met Katie downstairs on the morning of her first day and showed her
around, introducing her to some of the others. She was a bit shy at first,
resembling the respectful and reserved All American girl that I'd remembered
from family events in prior years. Despite the fact that people were smoking
openly, as I was taking her on a tour of the place she asked me if it was
"alright to have one" as we sat in the war room and waited for Decker to
arrive. We were a bit early so I told Katie to relax and went and got both of
us a coffee.

    While I was at the coffee machine, I felt someone's arms slide around my
waist. Turning around, I was greeted by an amazing nicotine laced kiss from
Erin. "Hiii," she said happily and then did a quick snap drag and puffed out
a couple of cute little smoke rings for my benefit.

    "Hey you!" I said, "There's someone you should meet." When I told her
Katie was in the other room her eyes lit up. I grabbed her hand and we both
headed into the war room.

    Katie was watching one of the wall monitors and in mid-exhale when we
walked in. She seemed interested in something that was going on in 1968 with
a brown haired brunette in the deep south and didn't turn around right away.
As she slowly turned towards us though, the calm reserved look on her face
turned to one of astonishment when she saw Erin with me.

    "Holy shit!" she said, with any remaining shyness fading away.  "You're -
you're real!" She took a long drag from her cigarette while staring at Erin
in utter shock. "What the fuck, so you weren't a dream?" Katie asked, her
eyes still wide-eyed as she tried to understand what her eyes were showing to
her.

    "Well, someone here thinks I'm a dream sometimes," Erin said, throwing a
look at me and smiling. "but I'm really here, in the flesh. I'm Erin."

    Erin walked over and extended her hand. Katie, still showing a look of
disbelief took Erin's hand. "I'm Katie. But I guess you already know that.
How did you... I mean you were in my dreams for months. You still show up
every now and then."

    "Wellll," Erin began, "Katie it wasn't a dream. Okay this is gonna sound
stupid but I'm gonna just say it. I always wanted to kiss a girl to see what
it was like but back where I'm from if I even talked about something like
that, never mind did anything. I would have been scorned for life."

    "Where are you from anyway?" Katie said.

    "It's not where I'm from really, it's when I'm from. The seventies.  Mike
knew me back then and he brought me here. Anyway, then if you were a girl
that liked a girl or a guy that liked a guy, you couldn't say anything," Erin
said, "it sucked really, glad people are more cool with that stuff now."

    "Wow!" Katie said to me, "I guess that time travel thing really does
work." Turning to Erin, Katie said to her, "So the kiss, was it real?"

    Erin grinned, "Yeah, it was, you were my first girl that I kissed, the
only one, really. It was weird, I gave you the GS4268 and you woke up. That
wasn't supposed to happen, I'm like shit, now what. So I look at you and even
wave my hand in front of your face, and you're like in a daze and I go over
and wave at you closer and you're just staring at me. And then all of a
sudden you just grab me and start kissing me and I'm like whoa this is really
good. So I kept kissed you back and it was so good I couldn't stop.  After
awhile you just went back to sleep." Both girls laughed. "I hope you're not
mad."

    "Erin, oh my God - Mad? Dude, everything changed that night. Yeah, I
freaked out 'cause I didn't smoke for a week and I thought I was sick or
going crazy, Mike kinda explained how that worked with the stuff you gave me,
but after I figured the smoking part out. Erin, what you did was awesome!"
The two girls hugged and Katie continued. "Wanna know something crazy?" Erin
nodded.  "After that night I started noticing girls, even liking them. At
first I'm like 'what the fuck?', it felt weird but after a while I didn't
fight it, I mean I like guys too but that was the night I became bi." Katie
went over and hugged Erin.  The hug lasted so long that for a second I
thought I might witness a repeat performance from that night. But the two
girls separated, smiling at each other and the bond they now shared.

    Erin reached in her pocket. "Want a Kool?" she asked.

    "You smoke Kools?" Katie replied. "I didn't think anybody smoked them.'

    "I'm from 1979, remember. " she said grinning. "These were the shit back
then."

    "Oh, yeah" Katie said. "I still gotta get used to this time travel
stuff," she said, taking one of Erin's cigarettes. Erin flicked on her
lighter and offered the flame to her new friend. Katie moved her dangle
towards Erin's flame and smoke escaped through her nostrils as she took her
first inhale. The two girls sat together at the table, smoking, as we waited
for Decker to arrive.
